NDI and Bank of America Host Asset Development Summit for Persons with Disabilities in Fort Myers, Florida Back to news

March 23, 2010: National leaders joined local leaders in Fort Myers, Florida on March 23, 2010 at the Asset Development Summit for Persons with Disabilities to discuss new collaborative opportunities on how to work together to build a roadmap out of poverty for persons with disabilities.The Summit was sponsored by Bank of America.

Dr. Johnette Hartnett , Director of Research and Real Economic Impact Tour, National Disability Institute, Washington, DC, Gregory Ford, Chief, National Partnerships, Internal Revenue Service – Stakeholders, Partnerships, Education and Communication Division, Atlanta, Georgia, and Janet Hamer, Chair, Florida Prosperity Partnership joined local leaders from Bank of America, Center for Independent Living, United Way, Consumer Credit Counseling, Center for Autism and Related Disorders, and Lee County Department of Human Services (partial listing) to create an action plan on how the asset building and disability community can work together to enhance the economic self-sufficiency of persons with disabilities in the area.

The National Disability Institute has hosted over 15 Asset Development Summits throughout the United States over the past four years.  The Asset Development Summits bring together key leaders of the asset building community and key leaders from the disability community to discuss new collaborative opportunities between the two communities to build a better economic future for persons with disabilities.
