One of founding members of FFLC and maintains a co-leadership role in the coalition.
The Division of Services for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing has taken a leadership role. They have worked with the free tax preparation committee of the coalition to set up 4 dates in which groups of “roving” preparers are scheduled to prepare returns at their office, which is located in very close proximity to the Social Security Administration, Vocational Rehabilitation, and Disability Rights and Resources. Disability Rights and Resources has agreed to hold a disability awareness session for these roving preparers. The consensus of the disability agencies was to work with the coalition to develop a strategy. They would promote people with disability to attend existing free tax preparation sites. Sign interpreters/hearing amplification aids have been offered by the Division of Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and was working with the tax preparation committee to develop procedures for scheduling their assistance. Likely to plan 2-3 tax preparation sessions at the Disability Rights and Resources office during the filing season. Part of the FFLC.
