Disability Initiative Workgroup Members

Goodwill of Madison

Goodwill of Madison invited Wisconsin Department of Revenue to address a coalition of disability organizations to inform customers of area financial literacy and tax education opportunities. Goodwill of Menasha operates a very successful volunteer tax preparation site. Last filing season they completed over 1,000 federal returns.

The Arc

Partners with IRS and Wisconsin Department of Revenue conducting training for case managers. Distributes outreach materials to clients. The organization refers case managers and approximately 150 clients (most have a Federal Filing requirement) to the Madison Supersite.

Division of Vocational Rehabilitation

Several outreach efforts take place with this state agency in Wisconsin. The Disability Program Navigators make sure they have local Free Tax Prep site listings.

Wisconsin VA Medical Centers

Volunteer Tax Preparation and outreach is conducted in each of the three VA Medical centers in Wisconsin located in Milwaukee, Madison and Tomah. They also reache out to the Veterans in the Compensated Work Therapy program to provide compliance education.

REM

Wisconsin Department of Revenue has an ongoing relationship with this organization as part of the Madison VITA Coalition. They prepared over 100 returns last year for disabled taxpayers.

CAPS Inc

CAPS Inc will provide free tax preparation in Waupaca County this upcoming filing season. They will provide outreach to both disabled and rural taxpayers.
