Southern New Hampshire University
The Center for Community Economic Development & Disability at SNHU’s School of Community Economic Development has introduced a free online training called Making Financial Connections. The training is divided into five modules which cover various topics related to the financial wellbeing of people with disabilities in New Hampshire, including a customer service module that provides sensitivity training and accessibility information. VITA site coordinators and volunteers are participating in the training as well as various professionals who work for disability-specific organizations.
Northeast Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services and Southern New Hampshire University are arranging for free tax preparation services for the deaf and hard of hearing community. The services are provided by fully trained faculty and student volunteers at the university as part of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA).
SNHU distributed BudgetWise, a financial education newsletter for people with disabilities brought to you by the Center for Community Economic Development & Disability (CCEDD) at Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU). The goal of this newsletter is to provide up to date information on money management and public benefit related issues to help plan for the future.
SNHU created the REAL Opportunities Coalition, providing grants to four asset-building coalitions who are increasing their outreach to persons with disabilities: Berlin/Gorham Asset Building Coalition, Rockingham County Community Action Program, Money Matters Coalition of Peterborough, and United Way of Greater Nashua Asset Building Coalition.
SNHU has also been an active participant in the rebuilding of the Manchester Asset Building Coalition.
