Mayors Office - Office on Disability

VITA site information is being advertised on the NYS Office of Disability Assistance. Long Island Coalition. Through the newly established Long Island Coalition, several members of whom are directors of disability groups. Conducted workshops regarding disability issues, EITC, TETR and E-file. Also arrange for one day free tax preparation.

Food Change

Food Change has agreed to provide tax preparation services for all of our one day outreach events.

Neighborworks

Neighborworks and Food Change are partnering on a number of initiatives. Neighborworks is committed to working with persons with disabilities. When the SPEC Tax Specialist visits the different Neighborworks sites, she brings a number of Pubs 3966 and explains the information in the publication.

Lighthouse for the Blind

The Lighthouse, an organization for the visually impaired, has been providing free tax preparation for over 10 years. During this filing season a two day outreach event was organized to provide free tax preparation to the visually impaired. Will continue to provide free tax preparation and may work in conjunction with the disability initiative next filing season.
