Goodwill

Goodwill Industries of the Greater East Bay joined the Alameda Earn It! Keep It! Save It! (EIKISI) Coalition. Goodwill Industries of the Greater East Bay is located in Oakland in a predominant low-income area. Goodwill will be offering free tax preparation services this year to their clients and the neighboring community. They also will be sending out EIKISI Site information flyers to their clients and other Disability Organizations they partner with through out Alameda County.

Independent Living

Concord Independent Living Center is sponsoring a Free Tax Preparation site this year. They are also a partner of the Family Economic Security Partnership Coalition of Contra Costa County which is headed by United Way of the Bay Area.

United Way

United Way of the Bay Area, and other partners of the coalition are actively involved with the SPEC staff in recruiting Disability Organizations. Currently two Independent Living Centers have agreed to sponsor a VITA Site. Two Social Service Agencies have agreed to promote the EITC campaign and IRS Disability Brochures to their clients. They also agreed track the disabled clients they service this Filing Season. United Way of the Bay Area inserted a “Disability Question” in their survey. They survey question reads-Do you or anyone in your house hold have a disability. All seven counties of the EIKISI Coalitions will be using the United Way survey questions. Mayors Office - Office on Disability

“Citywide ADA Coordinator for Mayor’s Office on Disability in San Francisco wants to be involved in the Disability Initiative.”

World Institute on Disability

World Institute on Disability gave a presentation to the Alameda County VITA Site Coordinators on Disability Access Concepts and Practices.
