Disability Initiative Workgroup Members

Gulfstream Goodwill

Goodwill is participating in the VITA program for the fourth year and provides outreach to their employees and sponsoring agencies. This year stuffers were developed to be distributed at all Goodwill stores in the county with information on the VITA program and EITC. These stuffers were distributed in Goodwill employees W2’s. Goodwill will coordinate with their VITA program to provide interpreter services on as needed basis. Goodwill has been an active participant in the disability effort in Palm Beach County.

The Arc

The ARC has distributed over 100 flyers to clients on the EITC and VITA requirements.

Easter Seals

Easter Seals distributed 150 flyers to families and clients at their location.

Coalition for Independent Living Options

The Center for Independent Living is participating in the VITA program for their third filing season. They have distributed flyers to clients and counselors at their agency. They also have included information at different sponsoring events to educate individuals on the EITC and VITA program.

United Way

The United Way has been the sponsoring agency for the Prosperity Campaign of Palm Beach County. The Prosperity Campaign distributes over 150,000 flyers with the disability symbols to all funded agencies and Title 1 schools in the county. The Prosperity Center has added two WIPAs to their program to strengthen the services for individuals with disabilities. The marketing department of United Way developed a flyer for Goodwill to promote their agency at all of their stores in the county. This insert was also placed in all of the Goodwill’s employees W2’s this year.

Mayors Office - Office on Disability

The Mayor’s office in West Palm Beach sponsors two VITA sites and has distributed the Publication 3966 (“Living and Working with Disabilities” brochure) to clients at both of the sites.

Palm Beach Habilitation Center

Palm Beach Habilitation Center for the third year has also opened as a VITA site. They have also provided outreach to all of their clients and sponsoring agencies. The Palm Beach Habilitation opened one additional day this filing season to serve their employees and clients at their location.

Deaf Service Center

Deaf Service Center has opened it doors for the second year to provide VITA services to their clients. The Prosperity Campaign of Palm Beach County will pay for interpreters for these two days of services.
