Corporate Sponsorship
The new frontier for increasing asset ownership for low-income Americans through free tax preparation, financial education and access to mainstream financial institutions has not included people with disabilities and their families. To create an unprecedented opportunity to reach this market segment, the National Disability Institute (a 501(c)(3) organization) has created a public-private partnership with community and government organizations as well as corporations and small businesses to bring the Real Economic Impact Tour to more than 50 cities nationwide. The tour is designed to produce:
- New opportunities for Americans with disabilities and their families to achieve financial independence;
- Immediate market creation for corporate sponsors; and
- Measurable economic growth in targeted cities.
Activities in each city are designed to meet the needs of the community with core components including:
- Financial education classes;
- Free tax preparation;
- Special events to connect to corporate partners;
- Credit, debt, and homeownership counseling;
- Training about federal work incentives to promote self-sufficiency;
- Training about access and use of public benefits; and
- Training and technical assistance leveraging existing community resources.
Corporate partners have found that the Real Economic Impact Tour not only provides visibility to this untapped segment, it also strengthens corporate social responsibility efforts and helps companies commit to their diversity goals. By participating in this ground-breaking program, companies have an unprecedented opportunity to reach hundreds of thousands of consumers across the country in a meaningful way.
