America Saves Week

NDI endorses the goals of America Saves Week and encourages individuals with disabilities to set a weekly savings goal, reduce debt and join thousands of other individuals and families to plan for a better economic future.
America Saves Week aims to educate organizations and individuals about the importance of reducing debt and increasing wealth through saving money. The goal of America Saves Week is to promote Financial Action- a commitment to save, invest, and build wealth.
Organizations can get involved by partnering with local Saves campaigns to offer motivational workshops, posters, brochures and other resources. America Saves suggests that organizations partner with financial institutions that will offer no fee, low opening balance accounts for small savers and other investment and savings opportunities. This will create incentives for families and individuals to open or add money to accounts during the week.
Individuals can become involved by enrolling as an America Saver or with a local Saves Campaign. Individuals can commit by automatically saving a certain amount from every paycheck, and setting investment and savings goals. Individuals can set specific goals such as paying down debt by an extra $25 per month or setting up an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) and making regular contributions.
